Southern Loch Lomond is currently extensively affected by blue-green algae. Drumkinnon Bay is particularly badly affected.

All water users are advised to avoid direct contact with the water whilst this condition persists. Swimming in particular should be avoided and dog-walkers are advised to keep their pets well away from the water as regards either swimming or drinking fom the loch.

As the algae is toxic to humans and animals, medical assistance should be sought immediately if the water is accidently ingested.
