LLA Statement

The Loch Lomond Association Management Committee totally rejects the findings of the Scottish Minister in respect of the National Park's camping byelaw proposals. It similarly rejected the self-seeking NPA byelaw proposals as submitted to Ministers.

Dr McLeod's decision approving these ill-judged NPA proposals is an overt assault on the third primary aim of the National Parks' Founding Act 2000 on the Park's recreational purpose, which has clearly been abandoned by the Scottish Government, without any debate or public consultation. It is also an assault on the Land Reform Scotland (2003) Act and the SOAC provisions for Lightweight Camping.

It is abundantly clear that the Minister has abjectly failed to listen to very wide-ranging public opinion , and to wholly rational arguments presented by numerous respected protesting organisations, including Police Scotland, and many other responders to the NPA Consultation whose views sought in many cases were arguably manipulated, and misrepresented after the consultation closed in January 2015. An overwhelming weight of proof dismissing the NPA's proposal contentions has been submitted to the Minister, and this obviously and regretably has also clearly been ignored. These matters beg an answer to the question - why.

Peter Jack
LLA Chairman
